State-Assisted Suicide of Herman Ashworth

Herman Ashworth had his suicide assisted by the people of Ohio on September 27, 2005 in revenge for the murder of Daniel Barker.

More than 100 high school students from the Cleveland area chartered THREE BUSSES to get themselves down to the prison to be outside in silent witness and visible protest of the execution. It was reported that Governor Taft was "not pleased" at that news. It was great to see and hear the passion of these students -- after the killing they say in a huge circle in the protest area for almost an hour, sharing reflections and planning for more action - a Cleveland to Columbus awareness-raising bike trip is in the works for the Spring!
