The Universal Pictures film, "The Life of David Gale"
opens in the United States and Canada on February
21, 2003.
The movie is about a committed Texas death penalty abolitionist
sentenced to death. Days before his scheduled execution he convinces a
reporter to investigate whether or not he really
committed the crime. The reporter tries to uncover the complicated crime
before he is put to death. The ads don't reveal the ending or the truth of
the murder, leaving one to wonder what happens. Regardless of the movies'
ending, people will talk about the death penalty.
|
"The death penalty is certainly a central issue and one that should be
discussed. Clearly, this is an issue that is on the minds of everyone
these days."
--Kevin Spacey

DOWNLOAD THE FLIER
Here you can download a sample "palm card," a flier that you can make
copies of and pass out to people as they come out of the film. Download the
WORD file if you want to adjust the text and/or change the contact
information so that people can contact your local organization. Or, if you
want CUADP to take the phone calls and respond to inquiries, download and
print out either the WORD file or the PDF. (Scroll to bottom of page to
download.)
In any case, please let CUADP know of any interesting feedback you receive.
NOTE: Special versions for Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania residents are also available.
HOW TO USE THIS FLIER
- Download the WORD file or the PDF
- If you want to adjust the language or contact information, use the
WORD file. Be sure to change the language in both boxes, as they are
identical.
- Print the flier on regular paper, but be sure to set your printer for
the best quality.
- If you want, create a fact sheet or find another interesting bit of
information to copy onto the reverse side.
- Make copies, preferably on lightly colored paper.
- Cut the copies in half, and you are ready!
- Go see the film. Position yourself just inside the exit to the
theater BEFORE the credits roll, and hold the flier out to people as they
pass you. Of course, not everyone will take one, but many will. Be sure
to pick up any that are thrown on the floor.
- Go back and repeat at the end of each showing, whenever possible!
(Theater managers can go either way on this sort of thing. Consider asking
permission to leaflet, but expect to be told no. Or, just do it. After
all, it is easier to say "I'm sorry" than to ask and be told "no.")
ENJOY!
