Dear Concerned Citizen,

The Florida Legislature has proposed an amendment to the Florida Constitution which will be on the November ballot. The title of this amendment is "Preservation of the Death Penalty," and it is a title that is misleading at best. It would be far more accurate for the title to read, "Preservation of the Electric Chair." We believe that Amendment 2 can be defeated, but in order for this to happen, *we need your help*.

As you can see from the information on this website, the proposed legislation is not only insidious because its title is so misleading, it is bad public policy, and political grandstanding at its worst.

We have established the "Vote NO On #2" Political Committee to provide resources and information to the general public, and to coordinate "Vote NO On #2" efforts across the state. We have established a toll free telephone number and this website. We are in the process of establishing an office in Tampa from which the campaign will be run.

At this time we are asking for any financial or other support you can offer in preparation for a public education campaign in the three weeks prior to the election. Working together, we can make a difference. Your support at this time is greatly appreciated!

We need people in all parts of the state to help with this effort. We also need full and part time volunteers in the Tampa area to help in a variety of ways. We are specifically seeking:

  • Spanish Translation Services
  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Media Coordinator
  • Graphic Artist (with computer and other tools if possible)
  • Web Designer (with computer)
  • Data Entry and Management (very important)
  • Accountant
  • Fund Raiser(s)
  • Donated Services and Products Coordinator
  • Field Coordinator
  • Door to door canvassers (we'll train!)
  • "Whatever needs to be done" People (with or without transportation)
  • People who can articulate the message (speakers)
  • Combinations of the above, and people with other skills or expertise to offer
