VOTE NO ON #2!
It's Overkill!

TAKE ACTION LOCALLY TO DEFEAT AMENDMENT #2

On Friday, October 9, a lawsuit was filed seeking to remove Amendment #2 from the ballot entirely due to its deceptive language. We have no way of knowing if the lawsuit will be successful, so everyone must do their part to educate Florida voters about why they should oppose Amendment #2.

UPDATE: The lawsuit was refused by the Florida Supreme Court (presumably because the Florida Supreme Court has a vested interest in the outcome) and has been resubmitted to a lower court. Check back for updates!

Our strategy with this campaign is to make a concerted effort to influence the vote on Amendment #2 across the state in general, with a focus in the Tampa/St. Pete area and in House District 60 (Temple Terrace area) in particular. District 60 is that of Representative Victor Crist, (not to be confused with his brother, U.S. Senate Candidate Charlie Crist) who is the author of Amendment #2.

Whatever happens on Amendment #2 statewide, we know that with your help we can defeat it in our target district. We expect to send a clear message to the Florida Legislature that when the voters are educated, they will not be fooled.

Leafletting Give these fliers to people you encounter who are registered to vote. This has proven to be a very effective grassroots technique. For example, the next time you are at the bank, in the grocery store, or at a restaurant, ask people if they are registered to vote. If they respond "Yes," simply say, "Please check out this information and VOTE NO ON #2!" You can do this with anyone - family, friends, colleagues, people in your community of faith, the mail carrier, people anywhere. We urge you to experiment with various approaches to find what works for you! Think about how many people you encounter just going through your daily routine: Everyone needs to hear this message!
